Book Beginnings - Angel Fall

It's Friday again, so here is my Book Beginnings on Friday!Katy, over at A Few More Pages, hosts this every week and we thought it'd be fun to have Book Ponderings join! If you are interested in doing this for your blog, check out Katy's blog for details on what to include in the post!

Angel Fall: A Novel

It was stillness.
That's what they remembered most about the beginning. A stillness that hung like ancient mold in the trees. But who could forget anything about Wind Sunday? The sharp acrylic memories painted themselves on their hearts and refused to dry. And ever after, touching the canvas brought tears.
On Wind Sunday, there were secrets to be learned.

This beginning makes me want to dive in and learn what on earth is going on. It's very intriguing and makes you think...I can't wait to read more of this book!
We'd love to hear what's the first line - or paragraph - of your current read. Feel free to share it with us in the comments! Are you liking the book so far? Was the first few lines enough to grip your attention? We're looking forward to hearing from you! :-)

I think the words are beautiful. The words suck me in. Never heard of Wind Sunday.

OK, I know this is a blog full of girls...and more girls but it thought i would share the first paragraph in the book i am reading, The Oath by Frank Peretti:

Chapter 1: The Killing

She ran, tree limbs and brambles scratching, grabbing, tripping, and slapping her as if they were bony hands, reaching for her out of the darkness. The mountainside dropped steeply, and she ran pell-mell, her feet unsure on the pine needles and loose stones. She beat at the limbs with flailing arms, looking for the trail, falling over logs, getting up and darting to the left, then to the right. A fallen limb caught her ankle, and she fell again. Where was the trail?

HA-HA! And I leave you with a cliff-hanger, or should I say Peretti leaves you with a cliff-hanger? anyway this first paragraph really grabbed my attention and after this I couldn't put the book down. I give it a 5 out of 5!

Note: this book is about sin and how we can get free from it. So it may not be readable for all ages. A recommend being 13 or older. :)

Yes, Tea, very interesting intro with beautiful words.

Isaac - Thanks for sharing! Kait and I may like our sweet and romantic books often, but I enjoy a good story that will freak me out, too. Peretti is one of my favorite authors! :-D The Oath was *really* good - I am sure you will enjoy the rest of the book. Yes, I do agree it should be for mature readers, though I thought Peretti did an excellent job keeping it clean considering the circumstances. :-)

Katy- Yes Peretti did a really good job keeping the content pretty clean...but a few words i think he could've left out and it would've been just as good-if not better-. but it great so far!
