Ponderin' The Past...with William Shakespeare

For school recently I had to read A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare and some information about Shakepeare's life. I enjoyed A Midsummer Night's Dream and gave it 4 stars for it's humorous and unique story. I also learned quite a bit about the famous Shakespeare during the course...

William Shakespeare lived in Stratford-upon-Avon Warwickshire, England.  It is unknown what year he was born, but he was baptized on the 16th of April of 1564. He is known as one of the greatest writers of the English language, having written more than 154 sonnets, 38 plays, 2 narrative poems, and several other poems, many of his works translated into every major language.

Although Shakespeare is one of the most well known writers, very little is known about him. There are some people who even believe that the William Shakespeare we know of wasn't the true writer of the plays we attribute him to. They suggest that it may have been a a nobleman who wrote them and wouldn't use his name, as back then it was considered indecent for one of noble blood to write plays.  Aside from Shakespeare's will,  there are no documents, letters, manuscripts, journals, nor a biography, and many of the stories told about him are obviously untrue. While this has only been speculated and never proven, it is an interesting thought.

Shakespeare died in 1616, leaving behind a vast number of classic stories, like Julius Ceaser, Romeo and Juliet, Measure For Measure, Hamlet, Antony and Cleopatra, and many other plays, poems, and sonnets.

So, there's some interesting information on William Shakespeare! :-)

This is one of my all-time favorite Shakespeare plays. The theme of romance(with a little magical help)is very evident in the story. It's very entertaining- even if you're just reading it
