Yay! It’s finally here! The first posting of our big “12 Days of Christmas Giveaway” bash!! Through reviews this year we have accumulated some great books – and what better way to circulate them to other readers than hold a big, fun giveaway, right?!
Well, to add a bit of fun to this giveaway, we decided to explain the meaning behind the 12 days of Christmas in the song! (I always love to learn the meaning behind the songs we love to sing!) Sounds like fun, huh?
So, for the first day in our 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway we’re going to look at the first verse…
On the first day of Christmas,
My true love sent to me
A partridge in a pear tree
What does this mean? Well, to break it down. The “true love” that this verse mentions refers to God. The “me” who gets all the presents refers to baptized believers. And the “partridge in a pear tree” symbolizes Jesus Christ. Why use a partridge? Well a mother partridge will feign injury in order to decoy predators from her helpless babes, just as Christ gave his own life to save ours. Very thought provoking as we near Christmas Day…
